Bath Time, etc...

Tonight we gave Addie her first bath...we had been holding off and just giving her sponge baths because we were nervous that she was going to hate it, but we figured it was time.  She did really well during the actual bath, but didn't so much love the drying off part.

Thinking this isn't so bad after a few minutes

Once the ducky washcloth came off it was game over

Cutest. Duck. Ever.  (just my opinion:)

Pre-bed snuggles with Daddy

On a completely different subject, I was going through some of the things they gave us at the hospital and came across "The Baby Bill of Rights".  It reads:

TALK TO ME: Sing, hum, babble, or even read the funnies to me! I don't know exactly what you're saying, but I need to hear you. And I do know what you mean, even if I may not know words. Like your voice tones mean "I love you." Or when you yell, I hear, "you're a pest!" Unless you communicate with me, how can I learn? I learn from you.
HOLD ME: Everything is so big and new to me. I don't understand where I am. Or who I am. And I get scared. But when you hold me, I feel better. Your warmth warms me. Your breath and heartbeat make me feel I belong. Belong here. Belong to you.
ANSWER MY CRY: I don't cry to get you upset. Or to get you mad. I cry because I can't tell you how I feel any other way. Maybe I'm cold or wet or hungry...or scared and lonely. Answer my cries. You'll soon know what each one means. You won't spoil me. You'll help me to be a better baby...and to make you happier too.
LOVE ME: Like me. Love me just as I am. Don't expect me to do what I can't do. Like being toilet-trained. I know I'm messy. But I'm growing. Overlook my baby weaknesses. You're the most important person in my world. I can't make it without you. So get to know me. Have fun with me. And love me...love me just as I am.

I absolutely loved reading this.  Lately I have been getting pretty stressed out as I'm coming to the realization that I'm probably not going to be able to continue to breast feed because I'm just not producing enough for what Addison needs.  This was a great reminder that as long as we are loving her the best we can, everything is going to be alright.  What an amazing gift to get to care for and raise this little person:)

Addison goes for a walk...

It was a beautiful night tonight and the dogs had a little too much energy, so we decided to try out the baby bjorn and take a walk around the neighborhood.  She was super fussy before we put her in the bjorn but she was out cold within 5 minutes of our walk...fantastic.

Strapped in and ready to go

She held my thumb the whole walk...melts my heart

So sleepy after taking two walks today!

That's about it for now.  We're very excited to have her baby pictures taken this Thursday by a friend of ours...we'll post those as soon as we get them.  What to wear, what to wear!?!

Tummy Time

We had another doctor appointment today and Addie is finally gaining some weight (I would hope so...she's been eating like an animal.  We have dubbed her "the baracuda" for her voracious eating style).  She was up 10oz from last week and the doctor said it's time for us to start spending some time on her tummy, which Steve got right to after work tonight.  Her personality is starting to develop a little bit and I can already tell that I'm soon going to miss this tiny little cuddly phase that she is in...so precious.

Trying out the swing for the first time...she doesn't love it yet.

Addison is growing!

We had a dr's appointment on Thursday and found out that Addison was in the 95th percentile for height and 80th percentile for weight. This was all without her gaining any weight since being discharged from the hospital. She was born at 8 lbs, 7 oz and was discharged at 8 lbs even. She has stayed at that weight for the first week.

I'm confident that will change by this week's appointment as Addison is currently feeding like it's her job. She's emptying Tasha's milk supply and demanding more. When Tasha's not feeding she's pumping to try to build up a supply. Addison is destroying that as well so we've been supplementing a little bit with formula. Addison doesn't seem to enjoy formula or a bottle as much but she takes it in exchange for a full stomach.

Today we're off to church and then a friend's daughter's graduation party. She lives an hour north of us so it will be a test for Addison and her car seat. With temperatures in the low 80s, we'll take a day of driving and grilling out. Addison is equally excited.

More pictures coming soon...

New Blog

Hello! Tasha and I will try to update this website as we experience life in MN with our newest addition, Addison. We'll update with pictures, primarily of Addison more often than we'll update with actual words. You know, since a picture is worth 1,000 words.

We moved into our new house on 5/15 and popped out (it was much longer and drawn out than "popped" would indicate but you get the point) Addison. Bonnie & Clyde are adjusting quite well to the new house as well as Addison. Clyde constantly steps on Tasha or me to get as close to possible as Addison so we can protect her. He sleeps next to her crib at night and runs to her wagging his tale to give her kisses in the morning. Bonnie's current passion in life is exploring our new fenced in yard and playing with her vast tennis ball collection.

When Clyde isn't protecting Addison he's out in the yard working on a fairly extensive stick collection. He loves to find sticks in the yard and then bring them into the house to chew on them. Clyde thinks that is great. Tasha disagrees.

That's all for now, thanks for checking in!
